Food in the U.K.

Introduction:

There is so much food to try in London! Because it is such a big, diverse city, it is easy to find food from different cultures. In addition to trying a few traditional English dishes, I have also had Greek, Italian and Mexican food since I've been here.

What food did I try?:

Two of my favorite dishes that I have tried while in London so far have been the full English breakfast and fish and chips.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I was very excited when I tried both of these dishes. They are both part of England's culture. A full English breakfast consists of eggs, toast, beans, tomatoes and either bacon or sausage. I found the English breakfast to be really interesting at first. I had never really thought of beans and toast as being part of breakfast. However, after tasting it, I was very pleased. The beans and toast go very well together with the eggs and sausages. It is also very filling and warm on a cold English morning!

Fish and chips are really good, too, especially in English coastal towns like Brighton or St.Ives. This dish consists of a piece of breaded and deep-fried fish (haddock or cod are the most common) and French fries. Tartar sauce, malt vinegar or olive oil are often served on the side.

How is the food prepared?:

The full English breafast is prepared with the eggs sunny-side up, so the eggs are runny in the middle.
