Transportation

Introduction:

How do you get around in your city? Bus? Subway? Taxi? Car? Walking? The answer can be "All of the above" for many people who live in big cities. Depending on where you're going and how fast you need to get there, there's often an option that does the trick.

How do people get around?:

London is a very big city, so there are many ways to get around. There are trains, subways, buses, cars and bicycles all over the place, and all of them are used heavily every day in this busy city.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

At first, I was overwhelmed with all of the transportation options, but they're so important to experiencing the city that I had to go for it. I found the Tube (London's subway) to be very daunting. I was afraid of getting lost in what seemed like a huge underground maze. After studying my Tube map and riding it a few times with friends, however, I soon got the hang of it. I now take the Tube at least once every week!

I also ride a lot of buses here. I started off a little unsure about how the bus system worked. There are buses everywhere in London, and there is a bus stop on almost every street. When I first arrived in London, I wondered how people always knew which bus to get on.
