Travel News

These can be pretty unreliable, though, often arriving at random times or not at all, and they are also prime spots to get pickpocketed, so I prefer to walk most places when I can.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week was the Botero Museum. I've been there several times, much like the botanical garden, but I like to go back because it's a very tranquil environment, free to the public, and full of such fun Botero works. Fernando Botero was a Colombian sculptor and artist, and his work likes to play with distorting proportions. I love how all his works are very simply named after exactly what they depict. For example, his statue of a cat is simply called Gato. My favorite work of his is a parody of the Mona Lisa.

Other Travel News from this week:

I have been on vacation from work for over two months now, and this week is my first week back at work! On Monday, I had a great conversation club with some students about New Year's resolutions and how to set SMART goals, and on Tuesday, I volunteered in some English workshops about music and colors. Tomorrow, I get to meet my new cohort of first-semester students taking Basic English and the next group of students moving into my speech class, where I'll be working alongside a new professor at my university! I am very excited to be back at work and to share my classroom experiences with you soon.
