This is because many kings and queens used to live there. The two largest palaces are called Schönbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace. These palaces have a simple rectangular shape. They both have hundreds of rooms! Some of the rooms are very fancy. The fancy rooms are painted in gold and have lots of paintings of the royal families of Austria. Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palaces also have huge and well-groomed gardens.
One of the most interesting buildings in Vienna is called the Huntertwasserhaus. It is an apartment building that was built 30 years ago. The outside is covered in multi-colored panels. The roof is covered in grass and trees are growing into the building. Inside the building the floors were made uneven on purpose. What do you think of this modern architecture?
My favorite building in Vienna is called the Secession Building. It is so beautiful, I think it is my favorite building in the world! The Secession Building is a basic square shape. It is white and has beautiful green and gold paintings on the outside. The top of the building has a sphere made to look like golden leaves. Inside the building is a very famous painting by Gustav Klimt. This building was built over 100 years ago.
Vienna is filled with architecture that is anywhere from five years old to over 600 years old. It is very interesting to walk around Vienna and see all the different types of buildings!
