Traveler Bio

Guten tag! Hello!

My name is Ariana Alexandrescu and I am a senior at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC., where I study economics. You may have noticed that I'm not in Raleigh this semester, though, but instead am using my last semester in college to study abroad at the University of Economics and Business in Vienna, Austria!

My educational journey has been far from traditional. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and by the time I graduated from high school I had moved 15 times and lived in 9 states! My high school was in Worcester, Massachusetts, and I first went to college at Clemson University in South Carolina to study engineering. After two years at Clemson I realized that engineering wasn't for me, so I took three years off of school to earn some money and figure out where I wanted to study and what I wanted to do. In these three years, I worked in a health food store, volunteered in my community and as an assistant teacher at a preschool, and in the process learned so much about myself and about the world. When I was 24 I was finally ready to go back to school at NC State to study my newly-discovered passion for economics. Now, two years later, I’m in my final semester of college studying my favorite subject 4,600 miles from home... and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks so much for following my journey to Austria, and I look forward to being curious and making new discoveries with you!

Tschüss! Bye-bye!
