I also bought a cute ring and a set of cute earrings; together these items of jewelry cost me 50 dirham.
The best thing I ate this week was couscous in Morocco. The meal consisted of a huge plate set in the center of the table heaped with couscous, then cooked vegetables and chicken. Couscous is a wheat-based product that looks similar to rice but is in fact a type of tiny pasta. In Arabic culture, friends and family usually all eat from one huge plate and eat with their hands. Although we did not eat with our hands, I got to experience real Moroccan food!
In Spain, I continue to listen to my favorite type of music which is Latin music. Everywhere I go I hear Latin music. I also go to my Bachata and Salsa class and go out to practice my dancing. While I was in Morocco, the little bit of music I heard was Arabic music. An Arabic band even played music for the group I was with.
The best activity I did this week was to go to the Arabic baths. Arabic baths are very historic. Back in the day, these Arabic baths were huge underground places where people came to bathe. The baths were separated by gender. The men would talk about politics and business and play chess. The women would discuss private subjects (in other words stuff they wouldn’t say around men). These baths are still currently used but are more modern and are now most commonly used for relaxation. When I visited the Arabic baths, there were many different pools: some with cold water, some with hot water, and some with warm water.
