My name is Arria (Are-e-ah) Hauldin (Haul-din). I am a 21-year-old girl from Cooper City, Florida. I know you are probably asking yourself, “Where is Cooper City, Florida?” Great question! Cooper City, Florida is a small town located in South Florida. Cooper City is 20 minutes away from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and about 40 minutes away from Miami, Florida. Although I live in Cooper City, I was actually born in the next town over, Pembroke Pines, Florida. I was born on December 22, 1997 and I am the youngest of two. My older brother was born on November 7, 1995.
My whole family is from the country of Jamaica. Have you heard of it before? Jamaica is a small island country known for its beautiful beaches and delicious food. It might be a little challenging to find Jamaica on a map, but trust me it’s there! If you are looking at a world map, start with the United States. Try to find Florida on the map and then drag your finger straight down from there. You will quickly reach Jamaica. The island is between the countries of Haiti and Mexico. My parents were born and raised there. I used to live in Jamaica as a kid. Although I live in the United States, when I visit my family in my hometown, I am greeted by Jamaican food, Jamaican music (Reggae), and Jamaican Patois (the language spoken in Jamaica).
