Instead of traveling for fun, I wanted to travel with a purpose. I realized that I would not be where I am today without groups and individuals helping me, so I wanted to use my resources and assist in any way I can.
I decided to teach in Thailand for two weeks. I really enjoyed my time, but I did not feel like I learned much about the country or that area of the world, so I wanted to go back to Southeast Asia and teach again. Now, you probably wondering where is Southeast Asia? Southeast Asia is an area of the world located between the two large countries of India and China. Southeast Asia is very diverse in people, languages, and foods and I wanted to explore the region more.
I choose to go to Vietnam because I did not know much about the country and wanted to learn about the lives of the people who live there today. I have learned about Vietnam in history class, but I wanted to experience the country and its people on my own terms. I have been in Vietnam for almost 50 days and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer holds!
