When people first think of France, often their minds go straight to Paris. What is cool about France is that it has so many different environments. It has not only has big cities, but also beaches, cliffs, and mountains all in one country. I live in a smaller town called Annecy. It is at the foot of the most famous mountains in Europe called the Alps.
It is special to live at the foot of the Alps because everyone here is very outdoorsy. They love to spend time doing outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, skiing and running. There are bike paths and trails everywhere, making it safe for bikers to ride anywhere in the city. When you walk down toward the lake, there are a lot of people with their families walking together, running on paths, or hiking. It inspires me to want to get active too!
In addition, because people in Annecy love the outdoors, they care deeply about the environment. It is very clean everywhere around the city and lake. In fact, Lake Annecy is the cleanest lake in Europe!
There are lots of things in this environment that help people live such as bike lanes, fresh bakeries and fresh farmers markets. There is a bakery on almost every croner of Annecy because locals will pick up fresh bread multiple times a week.
