The monsoon, or rainy season, is just beginning here in Jaipur. We had several rain showers this week that brought much needed rain and cooled the temperature for a few hours. Unfortunately, the showers didn't last long and the temperatures quickly heated back up to over 100 degrees.
Because I live in the city, I get to see lots of street dogs, cats and cows roaming about. You can also see lots of pigs, goats and monkeys around town. This week I was lucky enough to see a few peacocks and a kingfisher, a long-beaked bird with a bright blue head and wings!
While hiking in the hills outside of the city, we came across a peacock with his colorful feathers spead out wide. He was likely putting on the show to impress a female nearby!
