A Bit About Me

Maybe your teacher can show you on a map where Central Asia is. It is further east than the Middle East, but it is not as far east as China.

Mongolia has a very interesting history and its ties to Central Asia are very interesting as well. The Mongolian Empire used to be very big. It is smaller now than it was before, but Mongolia is still a big country. It is between China and Russia, and the national capital is Ulaanbaatar. I chose to come to Mongolia to teach English so that I could learn more about this beautiful and interesting place. I am very interested in Mongolian language and history and how it relates to other countries like Tajikistan.

So, what am I actually doing here? I am teaching English at the Ulaanbaatar Police Academy. I am teaching police officers and border patrol officers how to speak English. It is a very fun and rewarding job. Today in my English class, I created workstations for my students to practice certain English skills. We practiced how to say certain clothing words in English, how to ask questions about another person, how to describe emotions and how to edit short sentences. Do you speak any other languages? Have you ever tried studying another language?  Here is another fun word for you to try: цамц. It means “shirt” and it is pronounced like “saams.”

Let me tell you some more fun things about myself. When I have free time, I love to read, write, hike, go running and do yoga. I also love meeting new, interesting people. I have been living in Mongolia for one month and I already have some awesome Mongolian friends. There are also so many interesting people here from all over the world! It is always fun to meet people who live in different corners of the world.
