More Seals!

Introduction:

During a recent trip to the zoo, I saw two animals that are very unique and special to Estonia; The Grey Seal and the Ringed Seal. Earlier in my journey, I went on a boat in the Baltic Sea to spot seals but at the zoo, I could get very close to them!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

The seal was very cute, especially when was playing in the water with a soccer ball. She was dark gray, plump, and had big black eyes, and very long white eyelashes.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I felt very excited - the seal was adorable! I did feel a little sad for the seal because her pool is quite small. Currently, the Tallinn Zoo is undergoing a renovation project, slowly increasing the size of each animal's enclosure. I hope it is the seals' turn next!

Where does it live?:

This seal lived at the Tallinn Zoo but normally the seals live in the Baltic Sea, off the coast of Estonia and Finland. Seals love cold water so there are also many seals in the Arctic and Antarctic waters!

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Seals in Estonia use their environment to survive in some cool ways. They live near the sea, where they find food like fish to eat. Seals have thick blubber (a layer of fat) under their skin to keep them warm in the cold water.
