Travel News

How did I get around this week?:

In Ghana, walking is the main way people get around! But there are a few other ways to travel:

  • By foot: Some people walk for two hours or more since there are limited ways to travel between villages.

  • By car/taxi: It’s not common to own a car because they’re very expensive. Most towns have small taxis that take people to bigger cities for shopping. They’re much smaller than taxis in the U.S.! Because there are only a few cars that come to my village, I had to wait three hours for one before. Usually people squeeze in close together. Once, I was in a four-seat car with eight other adults and three children!

  • By van: These vans act like buses in Ghana. They travel on set routes and you can wave one down to stop. They usually fit about 12 people.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

My hike to Boti Falls with my friend! It was a long two-hour hike where we saw a giant rock that looked like an umbrella, a three headed palm tree and finally two beautiful waterfalls!

Other Travel News from this week:

I had KFC this week! They have locations throughout Ghana and it was a nice taste of home.
