Although I hope to revisit my friends and host family one day in Xi’an, I am grateful for the opportunity to travel to and learn more about Taiwan now!
My Life in Kaohsiung
This year I have been teaching elementary students English at two schools in Taiwan’s largest southern city, Kaohsiung! Teaching 20 classes a week from grades 3-6, I have had the opportunity to work with over 500 students between my two schools, many of whom are the same age as you! They are wonderful and I hope you have the chance to meet some of them on our journey. Outside of school, there is always tons to explore in Kaohsiung. Not only does the city host Taiwan’s largest port, but it is also home to big-name attractions like Lotus Pond, Fo Guang Shan Monastery, and Dream Mall, the largest mall in Taiwan and once the largest in all of Asia. I hope I can highlight the unique and rich culture that sets Kaohsiung apart from the rest of Taiwan. Through our exchange, I hope you are inspired to stay curious and make your own travel journeys in the future!
P.S. Don’t tell the teachers in Taipei, but I wouldn’t trade Kaohsiung for any other city!
