On a typical weekend, you can see people walking small, and sometimes extremely territorial dogs on the beach (the small ones are always the most aggressive it seems), or engaging in any number of sports on the many sports fields and track available on the campus and open to community members. You know how college campuses in the US often have a football field? Here in Taiwan, they have baseball fields! Did I mention, that most dogs are unleashed here?

As the Spring comes to an end, so does the Cherry Blossom season. Originally from Japan, cherry blossoms have become a staple of Taiwan’s “Spring” and seasonal tourism. Although the season is supposed to last from late January through early April, most bloom in February and March depending on factors such as weather, elevation, and type of cherry blossom. For example, those found in the southern mountainous region of Alishan, Chiayi County bloom much later than those in northern regions like Taipei.
