Living in Amman, Jordan has been a very interesting experience. Amman is a city with a mix of modern life and old history, and I’ve seen how the people here have adapted to living in a desert. I thought the weather would be super-hot, but it’s not as bad as I imagined. Amman has cool breezes and the city sits on a system of hills, which help make the temperature more comfortable. But my favorite experience was visiting Wadi Rum, a beautiful desert area. It’s special because there are no big hotels, and people stay in Bedouin-style camps, where they live in the desert like people have for hundreds of years. The sand dunes and rocky mountains are incredible, and I got to see a side of Jordan that feels so peaceful and untouched.
Amman’s environment is really different from what I had expected. It’s cooler than I imagined for a desert city because it’s built on hills, which means the wind keeps things from getting too hot. Amman mixes old and new, with ancient buildings right next to modern shops and tall buildings. But the most special place I visited was Wadi Rum. It’s a huge desert with sand dunes and rock formations that look like something from a movie.
