Buses in Brazil

Fortunately for me, everyone has been super nice and helpful, so I am learning to enjoy traveling by bus in Brazil!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Belo Horizonte is a big city and the state capital of Minas Gerais. There is a lot of traffic in Belo Horizonte, but there would be even more if people did not use city buses to get around. Taking the bus is also better for the environment than having everyone drive their own car or motorcycle.  A lot of people also take buses to go from one city to another. When we got to Brazil, our plane arrived in the city of Sao Paolo, so we had to take a bus to our final destination, which was Belo Horizonte. This meant a nine hour bus ride through the middle of the night, which sounds crazy, but it was, in fact, one of my favorite bus rides ever! It was the fanciest bus I have ever seen. Everyone had their own seat that could be laid all the way back, and there were curtains around each seat. My daughter said it reminded her of the Knight Bus from Harry Potter. Since taking the bus is a part of the culture here, the buses are in excellent condition and provide a really efficient service. How about public transportation in your part of the world? Do you take the bus on a regular basis? If not, how do you travel to school or to go downtown?
