The Opera House is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it's one of the first places that many tourists think of visiting in Australia. Construction of the Opera House began in 1959 and completed in 1973, which means it’s 50th anniversary is coming up next year! While I’ve always been struck by its distinctive exterior, the interior is just as beautiful, with wood and concrete mixed to create interesting patterns and plenty of natural light streaming in through its tall windows.
Earlier this week, I booked tickets to visit Melbourne over the winter holiday. Melbourne is located far south in the state of Victoria, 878 km/545 miles away from Sydney. I’m excited to see what the south of Australia has to offer!
