How was the weather this week?:

For the most part, sunny and warm! Not only does that mean that I got to spend plenty of time outdoors, but it also means that my fellow scientists and I were finally able to conduct an experimental heatwave in the glasshouse. Such experiments work best on sunny days as the glasshouse conditions better mimic an actual heatwave than on cloudy days.

What animals did I see this week? :

While at the beach with my friends, we saw tiny fish swimming alongside us! I was also surprised to see bush turkeys (which look similar to American turkeys, but aren’t closely related) roaming along the sand. I usually spot them while walking around the woods but didn’t know they visited the beach! We even had to shoo one away from our bags.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

Shelly Beach, where we went swimming, hosts all kinds of animal life. The beach is part of Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve, where fishing is banned to help promote aquatic diversity.
