The weather was very fair, not too hot, with mostly clear skies. We are in the beginning of the short dry season so there were just some sprinkles of rain this week.
Rwanda is a spectacular country for bird-lovers. In my backyard, I have seen African golden orioles, ibises, and lots of pied crows. I also make sure to give lots of love to the two dogs, Bonnie and Clyde, who live here on the research compound.
Last week, I climbed Mount Bisoke, one of the five volcanos surrounding Musanze. It was such a challenging four hour hike, but the view of the crater lake at the summit made it worth it! (It is pictured in the postcard.)
I visited Volcanoes National Park to do some field work. Although I did not see any animals, I saw many signs of animal activity (tracks, dung, nests) that hinted at the rich biodiversity that lies hidden in the forest.
