Getting Around in Italy

Many people have Fiats, which only fit one or two people and are roughly the size of a golf cart!

Finally, I personally love that being on a bus means my attention is free and I can read or call friends on the way to school. Driving at home requires focus and all of your attention. Taking public transport here is almost like being chauffeured everywhere!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

The motivation to take public transport instead of driving also extends to economics. Gas in Italy is around 1.70 euros per liter, or about 6.70 euros (about $7.25 USD) per gallon! The Metro only costs two euros for 90 minutes of access to all public transportation in Milan, which makes it much more affordable than driving. There’s also an option to get a monthly Metro pass for only 22 Euro, which is what I use.

The use of public transportation is also much better for the environment! Most European countries are more conscious of sustainability and energy usage than the U.S. Italy is concerned with conservation of resources and reduction of emissions. Because of this, they commit a lot of funding to the maintenance of public transport so that fewer cars are on the road.
