A Little Bit About Me

Some examples include donating my hair to Wigs for Kids; dancing to music that has a Latin or African beat; singing anything from Disney to Gospel; doing the exercise/artform aerial; hiking anywhere (preferably with my dog); eating dark chocolate with tea; listening to music from every genre; creating treasure hunts; movie quoting; encouraging young people to learn about the world and share themselves; going to comedy shows; going on EVERY ride at amusement parks; playing games with friends; listening to family stories; engagin in ANY water activity; trying new things; and, perhaps unsurprisingly, traveling anywhere I get the chance to go!

You may have noticed that my bachelors and first masters are in the scientific realm of engineering, but I am currently pursuing a masters in the humanities. That's because I enjoy interacting with people as much as I do designing things. In the future, I'm hoping to use STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities to help youth (possibly refugee or indigenous) learn skills which can help them integrate (method of mixing themselves into most situations so they feel confident to contribute and connect) in new societies. We'll see how things unfold. If I know anything at all, it's that life has a life of its own! And that maybe I shouldn't make up my own sayings. Oh well, you're stuck with it for a few weeks now!

I am excited to share my journey with you, from the shenanigans to the struggles, and all the "ordinary" moments in between. No matter where we are or who we are, hopefully we can learn new ways to embrace all parts of ourselves and feel like we belong someplace, or maybe many places! Then again, maybe it's no 'place'.
