Thank you for exploring Spain with me! It has been incredible to share my journey abroad with you all.
When I was in middle school, I always wanted to travel. I come from a family of Ugandan and Tanzanian immigrants, but I had never been on a plane. My first flight was to North Carolina through my university. Little did I know that college would introduce me to many more cities and countries.
While my study abroad program was based in Spain, I visited eight other countries across Europe and Africa: Poland, England, Portugal, Hungary, Austria, Malta, Morocco and Kenya. It has been a privilege to share my journey with you all. I’m excited to bring these experiences with me back to my hometown in Maryland. These will also be valuable experiences that enrich my university life in Philadelphia.
The Gilman Scholarship Program sponsored a large part of my study abroad experience. This U.S. government program funds study abroad programs for underserved students. I have met incredible peers and mentors through the Gilman Scholarship. If you are considering studying abroad in college, this scholarship could be a great opportunity.
