Nick is in my fifth-grade class and is one of the top English speakers in the fifth grade! Join me in a conversation with him to learn more about life in Taiwan.
"I eat a 'dan bing' [egg pancake] or breakfast sandwich for breakfast. I eat the school lunch every day at lunchtime. For dinner, I like to eat beef noodle soup or sesame noodles. Those are my favorite."
An egg pancake is a traditional Taiwan breakfast and is similar to an omelet. It's amazing! Beef noodle soup is my favorite dinner food, too!
"I am the only kid at home, so I have my own room! We have a kitchen and my parents' room and my grandparents' room and a living room. We don't have a yard, but the school has room to play."
Most grandparents in Taiwan are taken care of by the younger generation, and it is common for all generations to live together.
"I clean my room, help with garbage, sweep the house, and help with the restaurant. I don't like chores that much."
I think I had the same chores as Nick when I was a kid!
