Hello, everyone!  Read on for some observations I've made while living in Latvia!

Pleasant Surprises

Grocery Shopping: I am not joking when I say there are four grocery stores within a 15 minute walk from my apartment. My apartment is in the suburbs, not even the central city! Granted, these are smaller markets as opposed to larger supermarkets, but massive hypermarkets do exist here too. It is so convenient to be able to walk to a grocery store that has all of the basic, foundational food items, rather than making a whole trip out of the shopping process. The same can be said for pharmacy stores, coffee shops and restaurants… There are shops all over the place!

Public Transit: If I do need to go somewhere to which I can’t walk, that’s no issue, thanks to Riga’s public transit system. There are three different modes of transportation within the city: buses, trolleybuses and trams. Trains and large buses are used for longer travel in Latvia or between countries, so I’m not usually taking them. Within the city limits, you are always within a five minute walking distance from at least one, if not more, of these stops!
