Traveler Bio

Hi! My name is Colton Adams, and I can’t wait to share my adventures with you. I grew up in northeast Tennessee in a small town called Gray. I always enjoyed hiking in the Appalachian mountains and exploring in the woods with my friends. There was a creek in my backyard growing up, and we would walk down to catch salamanders, frogs, and crawdads. I just graduated from the University of Tennessee, and I wanted to learn more about the people and animals of the world after that.

Right now, I’m in the beautiful country of Latvia. You can find me way up in northeastern Europe on the coast of the Baltic Sea. I’m living in the capital city of Riga, with its almost one million inhabitants, yet the majority of Latvia is covered by some of the prettiest lakes and forests I’ve ever seen. I spend my time here researching animal behavior and animal communication. I want to find out why animals do what they do and what they are saying to each other. Which animals are all over the world and always seem to have something to say? Birds! Specifically, I study mixed-species flocks of birds and how they interact with each other and their environment.

I’m beyond excited to have you tag along and learn all about birds and Latvia! Let's go!
