FUN FACT - Cold temperatures can also cause corals to bleach! Corals in deeper waters sometimes experience natural upwellings of cold water. These sudden temperature drops can also cause corals to release their algae. In deep reefs, this happens more often than we realize, and with climate change, ocean stability is being affected, potentially leading to more of these cold upwellings.
