Food is one of the best ways to explore and learn about a new place. And in London, there’s no shortage of amazing dishes from around the world, whether we are talking traditional British dishes, various fusion foods or something you find in the street, there’s something for everyone. Believe it or not, being in London has given me some of the best food experiences I’ve had!
I tried a Sunday Roast, which is a traditional British meal. It usually includes roasted meat (like beef, chicken or lamb), crispy roasted potatoes, vegetables, Yorkshire pudding (which is a fluffy, baked side dish) and a rich gravy poured over everything. Some places also serve the Sunday Roast with stuffing or horseradish sauce, (depending on the type of meat). I had chicken with my Sunday Roast.
Eating a Sunday Roast felt like having a home-cooked meal in a cozy fireplace setting. The warm, comforting flavors made it feel like a special heavy meal, especially on a chilly day. This is a good thing because London's climate gets cold in January, and the winds can get strong too. The combination of crispy potatoes, tender meat and rich gravy was super-satisfying. It reminded me of a big family meal.
