And what further amazed me was how simple it was to hop on a train or a quick plane flight and be in another country within an hour--something that would take many more hours traveling from where I live in the U.S.!
In London, I’ve spent a lot of time exploring this city's many incredible museums. What I love about London is that so many of its museums are free, making them accessible to everyone, and making "museuming" one of my favorite pastimes! One of my favorite visits so far has been to the British Museum, where I saw the Rosetta Stone as well as artifacts from ancient civilizations that I had previously only read about in textbooks. The British Museum contains many controversial artifacts, and being able to see some of these gave me a whole new perspective on curating, especially with the example of The Parthenon Marbles. Another favorite museum for me was the Natural History Museum, with its massive dinosaur skeletons and interactive exhibits that made me feel like a kid again! Every museum visit has been a chance for me to learn something new and to see history come to life. It’s amazing to think about how much knowledge and culture is preserved in a single city, and I feel lucky to have the chance to experience it all firsthand.
This experience has opened my eyes to so much more than I ever expected. I’ve learned to adapt to new places, appreciate different perspectives and push myself outside my comfort-zone. Studying abroad has not only given me the chance to travel, but it has also shown me that the world is full of opportunities. As such, I highly recommend it, and I am so glad to have you guys along with me on my travels this cycle!
