This week has been weird because it has rained two days in a row. If you remember from the food journal, Guatemala has two seasons: rainy summer and dry winter. The rainy season isn't supposed to start until May, so I should have two more dry months before I'm drenched. I'm happy to have the rain because it helps lower the temperature and makes it easier for me to sleep.
My pueblo (town) is surrounded by farming aldeas (villages), so I see varying types of farm animals. Every morning, I wake up to my family's rooster and chickens making a lot of noise. Out and about in my town, I can see pick-up trucks that have pigs and cows, and on market days, I can see chickens and other birds for sale. The animal I see the most often is a chucho (dog). This is a Spanish word that only Guatemalans use when talking about dogs.
