A Day in the Life of a Kid in Madrid

Introduction:

Madrid is a city full of energy, and for kids, it’s a place where school, family time, and fun all come together. Whether they’re playing soccer, enjoying a snack, or learning in school, there’s always something exciting happening. What’s it like to be a kid growing up in Madrid? To find out, I spoke with Lucía, a third-grader who lives in the city. She told me all about her favorite activities, what school is like, and the special moments she shares with her family. Let’s hear her story!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, I like to eat toast with olive oil and tomato or maybe some cereal. At school, they serve lunch in the cafeteria, like pasta, chicken, or tortilla de patatas. But some kids go home during the 'hora de la comida', which is a two-hour break in the middle of the day! They eat lunch with their families and then come back to school. For dinner, my family eats together, and we might have soup, salad, or fish. We talk about our day and then I do my homework!

What is your house like?:

My house is an apartment. We live on the third floor, and there’s a living room, a small kitchen, and a couple of bedrooms. I share my room with my little brother, and we have bunk beds! There’s also a balcony where we put plants and hang clothes to dry.
