Expedition team members are working on ice flow modeling, which will help us determine the right place to drill the holes on the constantly moving ice so that we pass over the section of seabed that we want to explore. Others are figuring out the most efficient way to move people and equipment to maximize the 6-8 hours (maximum) that a Sabertooth can remain submerged before it runs out of power and needs to be recharged. Almost nothing about this challenge is easy, and that’s what makes it so exciting.
