I always take the bus to get around, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Additionally, the buses have two floors, so I like to sit upstairs and watch the passing scenery with a heightened perspective.
Unfortunately, most places in Ireland can't be reached unless you have a car. One of the places I visited recently, Avondale Park, can only be reached by car unless you're willing to sit on a bus for three compared to a one-hour car ride from Dublin. However, Ireland is moving towards improving their public transportation every year. It hopes to reach a point where the main mode of public transportation will be the bus, but cars will still be needed in some cases.
