A Day in My Life

It been chilly lately!

What do you like to do in your free time?:

I like to spend time with my friends where we eat dinner and play games such as Jenga or Cards Against Humanity. I also like to walk along the ocean.

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Modern Standard Arabic, also called Fus-ha. I also speak Moroccan Arabic, also called Darija. I know a little bit of a native Amazigh language called Tashlheet.

In all of these languages the way you say "Hello" is Salamu A'alaykum, which is translated into "Peace be upon you."

Do you have pets?:

No, but I had two cats when I lived here during my time in the U.S. Peace Corps.

Have you traveled? Where have you traveled to?:

I have traveled a lot for business and pleasure. Since September, I have visited Fes, Meknes, Merzouga, Tetouan, Belyounech, Sebta, Casablanca (seven times!), Marrakech (seven times!), and Rabat four times before moving here.

What do you do for work?:

I have been organizing and creating environmental workshops that teach awareness on environmental issues and project design management. I am building partnerships with associations and universities in Morocco to help me fulfill my nonprofit's mission. I have engineering students that are helping design waste-to-energy technology that I want to implement in towns in Morocco. My organization specializes in sustainable development.
