G'day everyone! I'm Emily Kreller, and I'm so excited to talk to you all while I'm in Sydney, Australia! First, it's important to talk about who I am, both to build our rapport and to learn about some preconceptions I might have about Australia.
I was born and raised in the New Orleans area. In fact, I graduated from Patrick Taylor in 2022 and took Mrs. Hampton's class when I was a sophomore right before the COVID-19 outbreak. In high school, I loved learning about different cultures' development, interaction and influence on each other. Now, at Tulane University, I study Communications to learn about how media and messaging shape cultural narratives. A lot of my classes have talked about the globalization of media, which is when content becomes more connected around the world. For example, last semester I learned about young women in India reading British romance novels.
Outside of academics, I love hanging out outside, watching live music or movies and making collages. The first picture is an owl at the Barataria Preserve near my parents' house. I love doing nature photography when I can! The second picture is from my trip to Preservation Hall with my friends, which was super fun. Lastly, I made my friend a collage for their birthday.
