Marie's Life in the Czech Republic!

I have only one grandfather since my other grandparents have passed away. He visits us almost every day, even when no one is at home, and he leaves sweets or doughnuts for us.

How do you get around?:

If I’m getting around my town, Kolín, I either walk or take the bus, which is free for everyone in town--yay! If I’m going to Prague, I always take the train because it’s faster than driving. If I go anywhere else in the Czech Republic, I’m usually fine with the train, or in the worst-case scenario, I take a bus.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

I usually like to wear pretty casual clothing, like jeans and sweaters. In the summer, I love wearing dresses. Sometimes I’m in the mood to dress up, but sometimes I’m too lazy to think about my outfit.

What do you like to do in your free time?:

I love hiking, so if I have a free weekend, I always go to our cabin in the mountains and go for hikes. I also love traveling. Even though being fully employed limits me a bit, I still manage to travel at least five times a year. I love anything outdoors--just getting out of town and doing something fun. On regular workdays, I enjoy taking Pilates classes. I also like to crochet, so I usually use my free time on the train while commuting to work for crocheting (and sometimes reading).

What language(s) do you speak? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Czech (native), English and a little bit of Russian and Swedish.

"Ahoj!" (informal) and "dobrý den!" (formal) are two ways of saying "hello" in Czech.
