I had dropped off the patterns over two weeks ago and my tailor was struggling to use them because he had never seen them before. I cut them out and showed him how to use them, and that was a really fun thing. It's small things like this where something super common at home is a huge change for the locals of Togo. It was amazing to see him figuring the patterns out and being excited to make a new style.
I'm reading a book called, Les Ancêtres Racontent (The Ancestors Tell) a book of African faibles. I got the book at my library here in the village, it's a children's book so I can read it pretty easily. There is a lot of symbolism with animals in the stories. For example, in one village the cheif is a lion and his subjects are giraffes, elephants and hippos.
I played soccer today. I am toujours (always) playing soccer here in Togo. It is the most popular sport and needs little equipment.
I had to travel to the capital, Lomé, this week to see the doctor, and I got to write this in air conditioning! What a luxury, it has been so hot!
