Essentially everything we throw out is trash, but much of this material has the potential to be reworked and reused. I enjoy reflecting on how small decisions can help the community: for instance, by putting a cardboard cereal box in a bin separate from the plastic bag I used to carry my apples in, I am able to reduce the amount of non-biodegradable material going into the trash.
I am curious to know if there are places in the U.S. that organize their trash and recycling systems in such a detailed way, and if so, how these systems motivate their community to get involved!
