The furthest I traveled this week was to the Peace Corps' office in Chişinău which is about 20 kilometers away (or 12 miles).
The furthest place I have been in Moldova from where I live is up to Bălți in the north. The distance is 127 kilometers, or 78 miles. The furthest place I have been to from Moldova is Barcelona, Spain which is over 2,000 kilometers away.
When traveling around my village, I always walk. In order to leave my village, there is a trolleybus that runs between my village and the capital. Most villages do not have a bus, so you would have to travel by rutiera (mini bus).
This week, I took a walk up to my village's church which has a cool overlook of where I live!
A ticket to ride a bus in Chişinău costs six lei, and something that took me a lot of getting used to is there a physical ticket taker who you need to pay on the bus to get a paper ticket. The bus picks me up at the top of the hill near my house, and it takes about 35 minutes to get to the center of the city.
