Uganda has about 45 tribes with different languages. In Kampala, the nation's capital, they speak Luganga. But in Mbarara (the southwestern part where I live), they speak Nyankole. Despite this, English is their official language since they were colonized by the British.
The national currency is the Ugandan shilling.
A 1.5-liter bottle of water costs 2,000 shillings ($0.53) and a 500ml bottle of water costs 500 shillings ($0.13).
I've tried so many foods here, but the best meal I’ve had this week has been a dish of taro with pork meat. Taro is a food made with millet.
Country music! Yes...country music. Ugandans love country music. It is played in almost every bar and restaurant. I heard songs from country stars like Dolly Parton, Don Williams, and Kenny Rogers.
