I did not travel that much this week, just around the island to get to school and my other weekly errands. My friend did visit me this week, though, and so we took the ferry to Gozo, Malta's sister island to the northwest. From my area of Malta, the journey is about 30 miles each way and takes 45 minutes.
At the start of this journey, I flew 6,000 miles from Los Angeles to Malta. Since arriving, I have yet to leave the island (except to visit its sister islands). Malta is only nine miles across, so you can drive around the island in about an hour or two. However, I have taken a ferry to both of Malta's sister islands, which are almost 30 miles away from the part of the island where I live and can catch the ferry.
I took the bus a few times this week to get to school and my volunteering. Taking the bus is the most popular mode of public transportation here. Since traffic can be intense, sometimes the buses get extremely crowded around rush hour and go past you at bus stops because they are already full. For this reason, most of the days this week, I walked almost everywhere I went. I love to walk as much as I can for exercise and fresh air too.
