English Tea

Introduction:

The British love their tea! In England, there is Afternoon Tea, High Tea and Cream Tea. Afternoon tea is served with delicious small treats and triangular sandwiches, and it is usually eaten as a snack between lunch and dinner. High Tea is more of a meal and was historically served to the working classes after a long, hard day in the factories. My favorite is Cream Tea which is served with homemade scones, clotted cream (which tastes like very creamy butter) and jam.

What food did I try?:

I have tried Cream Tea twice! The first time, my abroad program advisors served us Cream Tea in the study center, and they taught us all about how to properly drink and prepare different types of tea in England. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered Cream Tea again a few days later!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

When I tried Cream Tea, I realized how much I enjoy the combination of clotted cream and strawberry jam on scones. I also love adding sugar cubes to my tea. I find Cream Tea sweet and satisfying.

How is the food prepared?:

Cream Tea is easy to prepare! You can even try it at home. First, ask your parents to help you boil a pot of water. Once it's ready, add your favorite tea bag. I prefer Earl Grey. Then, add some milk and a few sugar cubes, if you like it sweet like I do. Next, scones! You can either make your own or pick up a pack from the grocery store.
