This week we had both sunny and rainy days. Even though it was August, the weather felt a lot more like fall, back home. I was glad I packed long pants and a jacket!
Because Helsinki is a bigger city located near the ocean, I saw a lot of seagulls. I also saw a few squirrels, and some fish in the ocean.
As part of our orientation, we went to the island of Hanasaari. We had the chance to see a lot of the little islands and coastline which surround Helsinki, and to go swimming. The water was very clear, a little bit salty - and very cold!
Helsinki is also home to Suomenlinna, an island fortress. To get there, you have to take a ferry out to the island. In addition to all of the cool history on the island, there is also a wonderful walking path to follow. It is really cool to look out at the ocean from the island!
