There are many community needs in an urban city like Seoul, South Korea. The community needs specific to South Korea range from how to take care of an aging population, low birth rates, gender inequality in the workplace, politics with North Korea and pollution. The community need that I will be focusing on here will be the environment. The air quality and air pollution are important aspects of Seoul's environment to learn about since it affects the young, the old, foreigners and locals alike.
The environment and health of people in Seoul depend on the amount of dust that is in the air during the day. It's special because the air often condenses into the gray fog from the dust that blows over from Chinese factories and forces people to wear face masks to protect their lungs. The community need that I learned about is the importance of improving local air quality. This issue is serious for Koreans because air quality can negatively impact overall health and lifespan especially when people are constantly breathing in harmful toxins and dust particles into their lungs.
