Our News

What activity was the most fun this week?:

During the week, my best friend and I took a trip to downtown Dallas. The drive to Dallas from Forney, which is where we live, was about 30 minutes. As soon as we arrived, we decided to rent a couple of scooters and rode around the city, admiring the beauty of all the structures and buildings. We then decided to take a couple of pictures for fun and to save for our memories. Before leaving, since the city offers food trucks to those who are visiting the city, we decided to get an elote. An elote is a corn-filled cup with cheese, mayo and hot sauce. It may not sound very appealing, but trust me, once you have it, it will change your life. All in all, riding scooters, taking pictures and eating in the city is a very popular thing to do, either to post on social media or just to have a good time.

What did I read this week?:

This week I read "Speaker for the Dead", by Orson Scott Card. A work of science fiction, this book examines the ways that different cultures interact with one another, and how the things that make us different can cause tremendous barriers to communication. However, the book offers an optimistic outlook on the whole and describes how even wildly different populations, if they are patient and careful, can build an understanding based on mutual respect.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

This week I’ve played 2 soccer games with my high school varsity team at North Forney High School. We play on Tuesdays and Fridays every week from January through March. This week we arrived at the halfway point of the district competition.
