This injury stopped me from doing everything for three or four months. Nevertheless, I jumped back into it as soon as I could and continued on with golfing and skiing.
Going into college, I wanted to become a veterinarian. Soon after the first semester, I discovered biology was not for me. Over winter break, after a visit to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida where my mom now lives, I found my love for astronomy! I switched over then and also decided I wanted to try ROTC (the Reserve Officers' Training Corps). This is a program for people wanting to work for the military as officers. I loved this program. I met my best friends in it, and it was the best decision I made! Unfortunately the military can be really picky with the people they let in. I was sadly disqualified from the program after a year of being in it. This did not stop me from continuing on in my career. I found other ways to work for the military after college while also getting to study abroad!
I was always planning on studying abroad in Germany. German is my second major in college. I decided I wanted to major in German after a trip in high school my dad, brother, and I went on to Germany. With being German, born in Germany and traveling to Germany, I knew I wanted to learn the langugae and study abroad there. Moving to Germany was hard, especially with Diesel. That airport scene of me struggling to carry everything by myself was a lesson I learned about patience and problem solving! Luckily, most Germans speak English and are very nice. I asked a bunch of people my questions about where to go and when. Everyone was kind enough to help me. A month and a half in, the transportation system now comes really easy to me, and most times I know where to go and when!
