The primary language spoken in Peru is Spanish, which Peruvians often call Castellano instead of Español. However, in many rural areas—especially among older generations—people also speak Quechua, the indigenous language of Peru. Quechua has deep cultural roots and is still an important part of daily life in many Andean communities.

The currency in Peru is called soles. One U.S. dollar is currently equal to about 3.70 soles, but the exchange rate can fluctuate.

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal I had this week was a tamale. Here in Peru, tamales are often eaten for breakfast. The one I had was filled with pork and olives, and it was served with bread and a cup of coffee - simple, but so delicious!

What music did I listen to this week?:

This week, I’ve been starting my mornings with music on my walk to work. I’ve been especially loving Mt. Joy, Caamp, and Role Model lately; they’ve been the perfect soundtrack for my daily routine.
