It can get pretty cold in Florence, so herons fly south to stay warm. Even though they can make cozy nests, they still need warmer weather to survive.
In Italy, there are not many predators that would hurt this kind of bird. The biggest challenge is staying away from dogs in the city. We are not too worried about the heron, though!
