The weather this week, like most of my time here, was very hot! As someone from Wisconsin, I am used to cold and snowy winter months. In Abuja, things are quite different. Unlike winter, spring, summer, and fall, there are only two seasons: the dry and wet season. Right now, Abuja is in the dry season. The dry season starts in November and lasts through March. It is called the dry season because there’s no precipitation! Instead, the sun is scorching hot. The wet season starts in April and lasts through October. This season is humid and rainy, but nevertheless still warm.
This week I saw cats, cows, lizards, and chickens! These animals are common in Abuja. I typically see them in streets, public areas, and neighborhoods. I used to be surprised to find so many creatures roaming freely, but now I’m accustomed to seeing them whenever I look outside my car window or walk around. A couple of times I even found house geckos on my room ceiling!
