The city of Accra has many options for transportation. Here are just a few:
For me, I feel more comfortable taking an Uber because it's safer and more reliable. I can also connect my bank card to pay for my fare so I don't have the hassle of carrying cash in the local currency, cedis. The good thing about taking Uber is that it gives you an option to either use your card or cash to pay for the ride. The bad thing is that some Uber drivers prefer cash and might cancel your ride if they see that you want to use your card. At times, I have experienced this behavior...and I often wonder if there is a better way to resolve this problem.
Most of the locals use trotros to get around because they are cheaper, but very crowded and time-consuming. What are trotros? Trotros are privately owned minibuses that travel on multiple routes. Although there are trotro stations, trotros board passengers anywhere along the route. The normal cost for trotros is between one cedi and fifty paswas to two cedies.
For taxis, it depends on where you're going. Anywhere on campus is five cedis, whereas going off campus can vary from ten cedis to twenty cedis.
